Apple Sold Over 1.2 Million iPhones In India In Q2, Registering 94 Percent Growth: Report

Apple Sold Over 1.2 Million iPhones In India– A massive 94 percent growth (year-on-year) was recorded by Apple in its second quarter (Q2) this year, driven by local manufacturing. The massive sales of iPhone 12 and 13 models contributed to the growth, according to market intelligence firm CyberMedia Research (CMR).

The total number of ‘Make in India’ iPhones shipped was nearly one million. With increased local iPhone production, Apple continued to grow the Indian market with a phenomenal YoY growth in the second quarter.

According to Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 saw the highest number of shipments.

In India, Apple iPad sales grew 34 percent year-over-year to over 0.2 million units. Moreover, according to the Q2 data, the lion’s share of iPad shipments were made up of iPad Air 2022 and iPad (Gen 9) models.

The CMR expects iPhones to dominate the smartphone market in India with a 4 percent share, while iPads will dominate with a 20 percent market share. As a result of inflationary pressures, a weakening rupee, and a mellowed consumer demand, the macro environment remains challenging for smartphone brands in India.
